Campaign Finance Calendar for 2008

COMMITTEE FORMATION DEADLINES
LAST DAY TO FILE STATEMENT OF ORGANIZATION OF POLITICAL COMMITTEE (28 DAYS BEFORE ELECTION)

• April 15, 2008: Last day to file statement of committee to be active in the Primary Election.
  

• October 7, 2008: Last day to file statement of committee to be active in the General Election.

2008 CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORTING PERIODS
FIRST OR ANNUAL REPORT
March 29 - April 4

• Candidates and political committees that didn't receive and/or spend more than $500.00 during reporting period may submit a waiver.

PRE-PRIMARY REPORT
April 28 - May 2

• No exemptions. All 2008 candidates and all political committees must file a report.

INDEPENDENT EXPENDITURE REPORT
April 28 - May 12

• "Last-minute" independent expenditures reported to appropriate office.

POST-PRIMARY REPORT
May 26- May 30

• No exemptions. All 2008 candidates and all political committees must file a report.

FIRST GENERAL REPORT
September 22 - September 26

• Candidates and political committees that didn't receive and/or spend over $500.00 during reporting period, or have no outstanding loans and/or bills, file waiver.

PRE-GENERAL REPORT
October 20 - October 24

• No exemptions. All 2008 candidates will open campaigns must file report. All committees must file report.

INDEPENDENT EXPENDITURE REPORT
October 20 - November 3

• "Last-minute" independent expenditures reported to appropriate office.

POST-GENERAL REPORT
November 17 - November 21

• No exemptions. All 2008 candidates will open campaigns must file report. All committees must file report.
